iCANDID uses a Schema.org based data model to collect and present data from different data sources in a uniform way and to make it accessible in an interoperable and reusable format. Schema.org is used as the main ontology because:

  • It enables semantic interlinking
  • Is suitable for any type of data
  • Is flexible and extendible
  • Is human- and machine-readable
The iCANDID data model is extended with elements from other ontologies such as the W3C PROV ontology to present semantically rich data.

You can find a complete overview of the data model at https://icandid.libis.be/_docs/
